So given the poll results, it appears we will be giving each expansion owner 500 ping pong balls (out of a total of 2000 in a 6 team lottery) to win the top draft pick. The other 4 teams that play in the consolation bracket will get ping pong balls as they did in this last season. This covers first overall pick in NHL, NBA, and NFL.
There are two things that this does not account for. FIRST, since the drafts are fixed, someone still has to get the first pick in the subsequent rounds. SECOND, there is no lottery for the MLB league, so this odds system wouldn't be the same.
This is my proposition:
Each expansion team will get randomly drawn for two sports each. The two sports they are drawn for, they will get the first pick in each subsequent round 2-end. The lottery will still decide the first overall pick.
For MLB, there will be a random draw for first overall pick between the two expansion teams (50/50 shot at first overall?)
FOR EXAMPLE:
Denver (Kane) and ??(Expansion Owner 2 who still hates me) get randomly assigned two sports.
Kane gets baseball and hockey, Owner 2 gets basketball and football.
For hockey, basketball, and football, the lottery decides first pick. For hockey Rounds 2-4, Kane has first pick. For basketball rounds 2-3 AND football rounds 2-6, Owner 2 has first pick.
For baseball, there is a 50/50 shot at getting first overall, and then every subsequent round (2-5), Kane gets first pick.
Thoughts?
