Here are the prospective initial salaries for MLB players drafted in the major league draft. There will be 26 rounds to the initial major league draft (26 total active roster spots and 4 DL spots). Each owner will receive 8 one-year contracts, 6 two-year contracts, 5 three-year contracts, 4 four-year contracts, and 3 five-year contracts.
1: $16 2: $14 3: $12 4: $10 5: $9 6: $8 7: $7 8: $6.5 9: $6 10:$5.5 11:$5 12:$4.5 13:$4 14:$3.5 15:$3 16:$3 17:$2.5 18:$2.5 19:$2 20:$2 21:$1.5 22:$1.5 23:$1 24:$1 25:$0.5 26:$0.5
The total initial salary for each team following the draft will be $132 million dollars. The MLB will have a hard salary cap at $140 million initially. This will come into effect during in-season free agent acquisitions, player re-signing, and off-season free agency.
Minor League prospects will not affect the cap while they are not in the major leagues. All minor league players will be under initial four year deals, which will begin once they come up to the majors. The first year will be at the league minimum salary of $0.5 million (2016 ONLY: except international players, who will have a salary of $1.5 million dollars), and after that will be performance-based (I will expand on this later)
