Specific buyout rules are available in the Player Buyout section in Contract Details.
To reiterate, any player under contract is eligible for buyout at any time. Buyouts will cost each owner half of their remaining salary and can be spread out over the length of their contract (so if a player has a 3-year contract, their buyout value, which is half of their contract value, can be paid out over the course of 3 years). This is THE ONLY way to fully release a player into the waiver wire pool while they are still under contract.
Buyouts should be posted here as A NEW THREAD. Do not comment on this one.
To post a buyout, the following format will be used:
Milwaukee Brewers buy out [insert name],[position],[real team]
Contract: x years, y million Buyout Value: y/2
Milwaukee chooses to pay y/2 dollars over the course of x years.
NOTE: An owner can choose to pay out the monetary value as they please, within the contract time frame. If a player has three years left on their deal, the money CAN be paid over one, two, OR three years in whatever weight is desired (i.e. 4 million year 1, 2 million year 2, 2 million year 3) as long as the money is completely paid off.
